    Intrinsic safety is a common explosion-proof protection mode on the current market. Its core principle is to limit the circuit energy of electrical equipment, ensuring that the electric sparks or thermal effects generated by the equipment under normal operation or specified fault conditions cannot ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere, thereby achieving explosion-proof performance. This protection mode focuses primarily on limiting circuit energy to guarantee the intrinsic safety performance of equipment.

    Due to this explosion-proof principle, intrinsically safe electrical equipment is widely used in low-power, low-energy instruments, meters, handheld terminals and other products. The energy generated by these devices is relatively low, making it easy to control within a safe range through technical means to meet intrinsic safety requirements.

    Currently, domestic standards for intrinsic safety explosion protection mainly refer to GB/T 3836.1 and GB/T 3836.4, while international standards include EN 60079-11, IEC 60079-11, UL 913 and others. These standards elaborate on the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules for intrinsically safe electrical equipment, ensuring the equipment’s intrinsic safety performance.

    Since intrinsic safety protection focuses on limiting product circuit energy, it is necessary to evalsuate the product’s electrical schematic diagrams, PCB layouts and component datasheets. For equipment with wireless transmission functions or battery power supply, additional assessments of these items are required. These documents are used to verify whether the equipment complies with intrinsic safety explosion-proof requirements.

    Equipment that has passed intrinsic safety certification can minimize the risk of explosion and ensure personnel safety and property security when used in flammable and explosive hazardous areas. Meanwhile, for enterprises, obtaining intrinsic safety certification is one of the key admission requirements for products to enter relevant markets, helping to enhance the product’s market competitiveness.
